Lower 9 Volunteer Angel
A true angel on earth, Rev. Stephen "Steve" Gonzales has been working with Hurricane Katrina rebuilding volunteers since the passing of his wife Joann in May 2006. Since then, he has worked with more than 60,000 volunteers from around the world. Nearly seven years ago Warrenetta and Steve's paths crossed, and he has never missed a day leading volunteer groups on rebuilding projects. His passion and love for volunteers keeps him going. His motto is "Make every yesterday a memory of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope." In addition, to Steve's dedication to volunteering in the community, he also started a prayer line that reaches more than a million people each day. We are so blessed to have Steve's help, happiness and hope as we continue to rebuild our community.
